With the MLB draft 15 days away(June 5-6), Farmstros will be looking at what has become of Astros draftees of the past. Today is a look at players drafted in 2000 and prior.
5/23- 2001-2003
5/28- 2004
5/30- 2005
6/2- 2006
6/4- 2007
2000 and before
Not many players remain in the organization from this time period:
Roy Oswalt was drafted in 1996
Lance Berkman was drafted in 1997
Chris Sampson as an infielder in 2000
Two players were drafted in 2000 who have since been traded for players who are currently in the organization:
Chad Qualls(part of the trade for Jose Valverde)
Eric Bruntlett(part of the trade for Michael Bourn and Geoff Geary). The second piece of that trade, Brad Lidge was drafted in 1998.
Ironically, the Astros also drafted Michael Bourn out of high school during the 2000 draft. He went on to University of Houston before becoming a part of the Phillie organization.
